135-years and 400 vehicles later: Sir Edward Leigh MP joins local transport company for milestone vehicle delivery

Lincolnshire based transport operator, J Bradshaw and Sons Ltd, have takendelivery of their 400th vehicle as part of a special event at their Sturton by Stow depot, celebrating their 135-year history.

The event, which was attended by Sir Edward Leigh, MP for Gainsborough, saw the 400th vehicle – a New Generation DAF XF – being delivered by local dealer Ford & Slater. Bradshaw employees past and present, along with a number of other guests, were there to share this milestone in the company’s history. The vehicle features a special ‘400’ themed livery and was handed over to driver David Justice byBradshaw Transport’s Managing Director, Tim Bradshaw.

Tim Bradshaw commented: “The new vehicle marks the future of our business.

With an extensive history of transporting goods since 1885, having moved from horses to steam engines and venturing into the warehousing industry, Bradshaw Transport has been a longstanding and valued business in the Sturton by Stow community. The loyal employees and customers at the company are what keep themgoing, and it is acknowledged that without them they wouldn’t be in the position they are today.

One of the highlights of the event was the attendance of a steam-powered enginethat the business owned and operated some 100+ years ago. The companymanaged to track down the vehicle which is now owned by vintage vehicle collectorRussell Cook, who was more than happy to lend Bradshaw’s the vehicle for their special occasion.

Tim Bradshaw concluded, History is important, but it’s just as important as looking towards the future”. The receipt of the 400th vehicle has marked a very important moment in the history of J Bradshaw and Sons and will be looked back upon in many years to come!
