New Managing Director at a. hartrodt in Indonesia

Ratna Dewi has been Managing Director of a. hartrodt Indonesia in Jakarta since January 1, 2022. The 43-year-old succeeds Kristian Sabitzki, who moved to Malaysia as Regional Managing Director Southeast Asia. Dewi studied accounting and specialized in freight forwarding. The Indonesian has been working at a. hartrodt's national subsidiary for over 15 years, most recently as Finance Director. She wants to expand the business in Indonesia and drive digitization: "Our customers can expect competitive prices and service excellence from us as a reliable partner in logistics."

Optimize customer service with cargocare

In 2022, Dewi wants to optimize customer service with the new service tool cargocare. Four employees are ready to speed up feedback on customer questions. "Our competent team provides answers and solutions tailored to the exact needs of our customers for current or future shipments," explains Dewi. Cargocare is to cover the complete product range of a. hartrodt Indonesia including customs documentation.

Focus on air freight and LCL shipments

"In 2022, we will be focusing on air freight and on LCL shipments for sea freight," says the new Managing Director, setting the direction. In the tense loading and space situation in sea freight, air freight is ideal for the essential cargo movement. For ocean freight, she says, a. hartrodt provides space for LCL shipments with its own consolidation services. Groupage containers are offered from Hamburg, Genoa, London, Singapore, and Nhava Sheva (Mumbai). In Indonesia, a. hartrodt handles 80 percent imports and 20 percent exports. The 125 employees work at four locations on the capital island of Java and in one office each on Bali and Kalimantan.

Indonesia's economic outlook for 2022 has a "positive" trend, according to Dewi. She sees the biggest challenge in the underdeveloped infrastructure: "With more than 17,000 islands, we need a seamless multimodal transportation system to distribute goods across the nation." She is confident: "Nevertheless, we see our government’s efforts to simplify regulations and procedures and to start the digital transformation. That will make the transportation and logistics sector more efficient and attractive."
