Reason Transport adds Volvo Trucks to its growing fleet

Family-owned operator Reason Transport has introduced the first Volvo trucks into its current fleet, acquiring two new Volvo FH 460 with I-Save and three FM 460 6×2 tractor units – each built to a very high specification, and with spacious Globetrotter cabs.

Supplied by Rory Kelly, Transport Solutions Executive at Volvo Truck & Bus Centre South & East, the five new trucks have been welcomed to the hauliers’ Coventry headquarters.

Micheal Reason, Director of Operations at Reason Transport, says: “I’ve always viewed Volvo Trucks as being a premium brand and so, when we were in the market for new vehicles and needed to consider an alternative supplier, Volvo was the first name on our list. Our drivers are very excited about this switch; they can’t wait to put them to the test!”

Reason Transport’s new FH with I-Save tractor units have been specified to deliver outstanding fuel efficiency on long-haul operations, benefitting from Volvo’s D13KTC engine, which delivers increased efficiency along with 300 Nm of additional torque, for a peak torque of 2,600 Nm. Working in combination with the truck’s I-See predictive cruise control, this engine makes it possible to tackle hills and gradients in a higher gear – saving fuel without losing speed and providing a smoother ride.

Both FHs come with six options packages introducing features including an extended leather interior, additional cab storage, luxury sleeper control panel, twin armrests on both driver and passenger seats, a 33-litre fridge, satellite navigation and adaptive LED headlamps.

Multiple driver support systems are also featured as part of the Active Safety+ package, including Volvo Dynamic Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Brake, Lane Departure Warning with corrective steering, Lane Change Support and even Stretch Brake, which can help prevent jack-knifing when travelling downhill in slippery conditions.

“My drivers’ comfort and safety are top priorities for me, so we worked really hard to tailor the specification to deliver the best possible blend of comfort and performance,” adds Micheal Reason. “If these new trucks perform as well as we expect them to, then I genuinely can’t see us considering another brand going forward.”

The company’s three new FMs have also been built to return maximum efficiency, being powered by Volvo’s D13K engine producing up to 460 hp and 2,200 Nm or torque – aided by Volvo’s Long Haul Fuel Economy driving package.
